BAHAWALPUR: Funeral prayers were held on Saturday for a 12-year-old child who died, along with six others, when a motorc
ycle-rickshaw collided with a train in Lodhran.
Railways Minister Saad Rafique visited the injured at the Bahawal Victoria Hospital. Speaking to the media after his visit, the minister promised a compensation of Rs 1,500,000 for the
victims. He said, “I understand that hu
man lives cannot be compensated. I assure the
victims justice.”
Rafique said that the exact cause and those responsible for the crash would only be identified after an investigation, which he said was currently underway. He added that human error and poor visibility due to dense fog could not be ruled out as reasons for the crash.

cident had re
vealed that the gate which separated the street and the railway track was open.
A grim mood swept over the town after the in
cident and businesses were closed today as people mourned the death of the children.
